Meet Denise Roessle as she tells us about Doing Memoirs Right.

A marketing copywriter by trade, Denise Roessle began writing on more personal topics after reuniting with the son she gave up for adoption as a teen. Her first book, "Second-Chance Mother," (Red Willow Publishing, 2012) is a multi-generational memoir of adoption loss and reconnection. She is also among 14 memoirists featured in the recently released anthology, “Loving For Crumbs” (edited by Jonna Ivin).

Denise is a professional member of the Society of Southwestern Authors (and past president of the Santa Cruz Valley Chapter), the National Association of Memoir Writers, and the Story Circle Network. Her personal essays and short fiction have placed in numerous writing competitions.

DOING MEMOIRS RIGHT: Everyone has a story. If you're considering writing yours — whether for personal growth, publication, or to record your memories for future generations — this presentation will provide practical information and food for thought. Memoirist Denise Roessle will discuss the difference between memoir and autobiogrphy, the reasons for writing one, the elements of story, overcoming the fears associated with telling your truth, and prompts to help you get started.
